2024/07/01 – training #25 (1/6 weekly)

Had a decent rest day yesterday—spent it with my family. Ate quite a lot of junk food though, the whole weekend actually. It is a legacy of quitting smoking. Still this morning I didn’t feel 100%, no particularly sore spots, but overall fatigue. It might be because I finished the week strongly on Saturday. So in order not to be too hard on already tired muscle areas, I decided to work on core:

  • 2 km warm-up run
  • 2×30 shoulder taps
  • 2×10 hanging leg raises
  • 2×105 seconds plank
  • 2×15 leg raises

Around 35 minutes. My family left me today to go to a sea resort for a couple of weeks. So I figured it’s a good time to finally include gym workouts in the evening as well. This will require some changes in my morning routine, but I do like to do some basic heavy lifting from time to time.

So my evening gym workout was like this:

  • 1 km warm-up run (ran to the gym)
  • Bench press (8×60 kg, 6×80 kg, 4×90 kg, 2×100 kg, 1×105 kg)
  • Squat to overhead press (4x6x40 kg)

And that’s it. My gym routine usually consists of only a couple of basic free-weight exercises. Like I said, I just want to lift some heavy weights from time to time. So it’s been around 4 months since I went to the gym, and it’s rather nice that my bench press remained at the same level as it was before. I weigh around 75 kg, 110 kg was my personal best, so it would be great if I could manage to go to 115-120 kg during the upcoming 2-3 months.
