It’s been a strange few days. My family got a bad stomach virus, and we had to mostly stay at home or near the toilet. It wasn’t so bad. I didn’t lose my appetite completely, and overall, I felt more like 6/10. Not a terrible illness. However, I figured it can also be useful to take a longer break to give my muscles some time to recover. But missing my morning routine has side effects:
- Waking up just before my kid is stressful. If I have to rush in the morning, the whole day seems chaotic. I hate going outside looking still sleepy.
- A lot more time spent on social media (YouTube videos, even though mostly informative, but still mostly got negative emotions out of it).
- Junk food. As I said, my appetite wasn’t gone, and I just wanted sweets and snacks.
- Overall feeling like a sick sack of crap.
It’s fair to say that losing one key routine – morning workouts – resulted in the crumbling of an otherwise pretty healthy and productive lifestyle. It’s just scary how fragile it is. For a short period, you feel pretty good – doses of short-term pleasure (YouTube, snacks, laying around), but in between, you feel like crap.
Right now, I decided that it’s time to end this state of acting ill. I shaved my beard and head, went to the shower, and came out a different person. Or I hope so. Let’s get back to the old routine.
